A Short Biography

Katrin Dagge, was born on September 2nd, 1991 in Herdecke, Germany. She started Kindergarten in Germany and then moved to the United States. Kati is 18, and attending 12th grade at Barron Collier High School, with dual enrollment at Edison College, in Naples, Florida. Entering into 12th grade with more then the average amout of credits required and a GPA of 4.2 she sets her standards very high, just as she does in Dressage. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and German Club.

Katrin inherited her love for horses from her mother. Horses have played a large part in (Kati’s mother) Birgitt’s family for generations. Katrin started riding dressage at the age of eleven. At that time she had set her mind on training an barely broke four year old jumper, which got her to see the ground more often then she liked. But in the end her horse "Lucky" made a strong contender at first level.  She trained him all by herself. Her next horse was Farbough, also a green horse, he was bought in Germany and Katrin had trained him herself to third level in 2007.

Katrin's competition horse Ladinor has been in the family for eight years; he was bought as 5 year old jumper in Germany and did AA Grand Prix jumping with Birgitt. He also doubled up as baby sitter in walk-trot classes and cross rails for Katrin and her brother. Until Birgitt decided to stop jumping and only ride dressage. Birgitt retrained Ladinor to be a dressage horse, within his first year of competing he went from first to third level, in the second year he did fourth and Prix St. George.

Katrin has been showing Ladinor for about four years,  starting in third level and working her way up to Intermediate 1 and Intermediate 1 Freestyle. Katrin has earned her USDF Bronze and Silver Medals as well as Bronze and Siver Freestyle Medals. Katrin has won several USDF year end awards, won many Regional Championship titles up to I-1, ranked number one in the National Ranking List, competed in and placed two horses in the top 12 National Championships and represented the United States for the last three years in International Competitions(NAJYRC).

Between Katrin and Birgitt, they finished the USEF Dressage horse owners ranking for 2007 in the 4th place in the United States with more then 7500 registered Dressagehorse owners competing in this list.

Katrin is responsible not only to keep her horse physically fit, but also is involved in all aspects of the horses care. Next to school and horses, Katrin enjoys being with her friends, swimming, the beach, and volunteers at the Naples Equestrian Challenge and a Equine Retraining Center.

Dream of Love is Katrin's upcoming horse. She is training her horses every day, Dream of Love was one of the best five year olds in Germany three years ago. And is currently, with only three years under saddle, training Prix St George, working hard so he will be her second horse for next years young rider devision. Dream of Love has international quality, so the long term goals are the Young Rider Championships and other international competions.

She is hoping to advance Ladinor to the Intermediare 2 level this year with a long time goal of riding him in Grand Prix.  Her educational goal is to finish high school and to go to college.

Her trainer is Marelyn Heath, S judge and head of the USDF judges L program. As well as attending several cliniques a year with international trainers.
